  • November 17, 2008
    A firm-fixed-price Delivery/Task Order is awarded by the Coast Guard for the purchase of three additional HC144A Ocean Sentry aircraft. These are the ninth, tenth, and eleventh HC144As acquired by the service and will be delivered by EADS CASA in April, August and November 2010, respectively.
  • November 5, 2008
    The sixth HC144A Ocean Sentry is accepted by the U.S. Coast Guard at the EADS CASA production facility in Seville, Spain. According to the Coast Guard, delivery of this aircraft occurred early, and within the negotiated price.
  • July 31, 2008
    EADS CASA’s fifth HC144A for the U.S. Coast Guard departs the company’s Seville, Spain production facility for its ferry flight to the United States. This Ocean Sentry aircraft will supplement the previously-delivered aircraft as the HC144A undergoes a formal Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) process prior to entering operational service with the Coast Guard in 2009.

    The U.S. Coast Guard’s new HC144A Ocean Sentry plays a key role in recovering a downed U.S. Air Force pilot from the Gulf of Mexico, demonstrating the EADS CASA-built platform’s capabilities as a multi-role maritime patrol aircraft. This mission, performed from Mobile, Alabama, marked two important milestones for the aircraft: its first operational Coast Guard search and rescue (SAR) deployment, and the Ocean Sentry’s initial use as an on-scene SAR coordinator platform.
  • October 25, 2007
    The U.S. Coast Guard completes the relocation of all three HC144A maritime patrol aircraft delivered to date to the Coast Guard Aviation Training Centre (ATC) in Mobile, Alabama, where integration and developmental testing of the C4ISR mission systems pallet will be completed in preparation for final delivery.

    An HC144A equipped with its mission systems pallet makes a stopover at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Washington, D.C. for visits by Congressional staff members and other invitees.
  • December 21, 2006
    Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City welcomes the first HC144A Ocean Sentry to the United States.  The trip from EADS CASA’s production facility in Seville, Spain was routed via the Cape Verde islands, Brazil, Barbados and Miami prior to its arrival in North Carolina.
  • December 7, 2006
    Ownership of the first CN-235 medium-range maritime patrol aircraft is transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard. Following initial training and aircraft familiarization, the Coast Guard will fly this aircraft to Elizabeth City, N.C., where the mission systems pallet will be integrated prior to delivery for operational evaluation by the Coast Guard’s Aviation Training Centre in Mobile, Alabama in 2007.

    EADS CASA rolls out its first CN235 produced for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Deepwater modernization program.  According to Coast Guard and Deepwater program officials, the CN-235 was a unanimous choice for the service’s medium-range maritime patrol aircraft requirement.
