Finland orders an additional C295

June 1, 2010

The Finnish Air Force has become another repeat customer for the C295, ordering an additional twin-engine tacticaltransport from Airbus Military.

This new aircraft will be the third to join the Finnish Air Force, which has been operating two C295s since 2007 for the transport of troops and material in Finland – including cold weather operations – and abroad as part of international missions.  It will have the same configuration as the earlier airlifters.

Finland’s C295s are supported by a Full In-Service Support (FISS) contract from Airbus Military with a "pay by hour" concept.  It covers the material and maintenance tasks required on aircraft above the "line maintenance" level, which remains the operator's task.

Airbus Military’s new-generation C295 is the ideal aircraft for search and rescue, maritime patrol, humanitarian actions, environmental surveillance missions, and other applications.

Thanks to its robustness, reliability and with simple systems, this medium-sized tactical airlifter provides wide versatility and flexibility, necessary for personnel, troop and bulky/palletised cargo transportation, casualty evacuation, communication and logistic duties or certified air-dropping capabilities.  Its mix of dual technology civil/military equipment ensure success on demanding tactical missions, growth potential for future equipment as well as compatibility with the latest civil airspace environment.

The C295 is part of Airbus Military’s family of light and medium airlifters which also include the shorter-fuselage CN-235 and smaller C-212. To date, Airbus Military has sold more than 800 C295/CN235/C212s to more than 120 customers.
