Cold weather certified
The C295 is certified for cold weather service, and has demonstrated its capabilities in the most extreme climates.
Finland's decision in 2006 to acquire up to seven C295s was made after a comprehensive and rigorous selection process that included cold weather trials performed in the Finnish Arctic area. Canadian cold weather operations certification was given to the shorter-fuselage CN235 version following full-scale evaluations at Resolute Bay in 1992.
The C295's ability to withstand the cold weather rigors of Finland was an important decision-point in the country's selection of the aircraft as its new tactical transport aircraft. Full-scale cold weather evaluations were performed with the C295 in the Finnish Arctic region.
