Airbus Military C212
With more than 470 aircraft sold worldwide, Airbus Military’s C212 is unrivalled in the light tactical transport category.
In service with operators around the globe, including Canada, the C212 meets users’ needs for a light military transport that can stage from areas lacking in infrastructure and from unpaved runways.
The aircraft’s robust airframe and high-wing design has allowed the C212 to evolve during its 30 years of service in response to requirements of the most demanding customers – including the U.S. Special Forces and special mission airlift duties in Afghanistan and other regions. Operating features include high manoeuvrability at low speeds, STOL performance, and a rugged landing gear. Upgraded avionics incorporate four EFIS (electronic flight instrument system) displays in the cockpit, offering improved reliability and maintainability.
Its ample and unobstructed cargo cabin with high floor strength can be quickly adapted for a variety of roles, including maritime patrol, cargo transport and medical evacuation. The C212’s rear ramp door allows for rapid loading/unloading of a mission pallet, and it can be opened in flight for paratroop dropping or the aerial delivery of cargo and supplies.
Even with its compact size, the C212 can be equipped with the Airbus Military-developed Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS), which acts as an effectiveness-multiplier for mission performance. FITS also is at the heart of the P-3 modernization package contracted by the Spain and Brazil.
