Overview Canadian team Commercial Report

Canadian Team

The C295 for Canada’s Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) aircraft requirement is equipped with Canadian-made engines and Canadian-developed avionics, and supported by state-of-the-art Canadian technology. Through its sales of
C295s worldwide, Airbus Military is helping Canadian aerospace companies to expand markets and increase sales.

Pratt & Whitney Canada

The C295 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada engines, which are proven, high performance and long endurance powerplants that are ideally suited for SAR missions. The PW127G's features include responsiveness for superior performance, a modular design for easy access and low maintenance, and low fuel consumption.

Thales Canada

Avionics used on the C295 were developed by Thales Canada and manufactured at Thales’ plant in Montreal, Quebec. The avionics were originally designed in Canada for the DeHavilland Dash-8 aircraft. Thales Canada has military and civilian certification for maintaining and upgrading the Dash-8 avionics, and offers full life cycle logistics support. In addition, Thales Canada has established training centres for the avionics, which can easily accommodate the training requirements for the C295's avionics suite.

CAE

Airbus Military has selected CAE as its preferred provider of simulation and training systems for C295 aircraft programs worldwide. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding where CAE will partner with Airbus Military on global C295 aircraft programs requiring a training solution. As part of this strategic cooperation, Airbus Military has awarded CAE contracts valued at more than C$22 million to design and manufacture two C295 full-flight simulators. One C295 simulator was provided to the Brazilian Air Force, which is procuring 12 C295 aircraft. The other C295 simulator is at the Airbus Military training center in Seville, Spain.
